Iron containing porous organic polymers (Fe-POPs) have been synthesized by a facile one-pot bottom-up approach to porphyrin chemistry by an extended aromatic substitution reaction between pyrrole and aromatic dialdehydes in the presence of small amount of Fe(iii).
